ENVIRONMENT IMPACT OF AIRPORT OPERATIONS

Image
NOISE POLLUTION       For this week, we will be diving into environmental impacts that affect the airport operations. I will be discussing the Noise issues. No-one likes noise and to be specific a jet or a plane noise, its loud and interruptive. This is one big issue that affects the day to day operation of most airports. "Since the emergence of the aviation industry, aircraft noise has been one of the most important sources of excessive noise generated by human activities." ( McGill 2016) Noise can cause serious damages to peoples hearing ability, with that being said, the government has to be very cautious of where they decide to build airports.      Aircraft noises can be caused by either the type of engine or the aircrafts frame. When the air passes through the aircrafts frame, it causes some friction and turbulence which ends up producing the loud noise. "The noises generated varies  according to aircraft size and type, and can differ even for identical aircra

TARIFF LAWS

TARIFF ACT OF 1789 What is a tariff? A tariff is a taxed imposed by one country on goods imported from another country. Tariffs are sometimes called Custom Duties. U.S Border Agents not only look for dangerous items but the also look for items taxed as imports. When people or companies are from different countries are looking to shit their merchandise, shipping by air is the fastest and preferred way." The main reason for charging tariffs include:   Limiting imports of goods and services by raising prices,  Protecting domestic producers and  In retaliation for unfair trade practices by partner countries." (PENPOIN 2021) There are two types of tariffs, the first one is the Specific tariff which is imposed on one unit if a good and the other one is the Ad valorem  tariff which is levied as a certain percentage of a good's value.  The Tariff act of 1789 was passed on July 4th by the congress."... and it contained many of the characteristics found in later tariff acts.

TEAM BASED HUMAN FACTOR CHALLENGES.

AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY.  According to the NBAA ( National Business Aviation Association), " Human factors is the study of the relationships between people and their activities through the systemic application of the human sciences, integrated within the framework of system engineering. Within the context of aviation, that study includes the interactions among aviation personnel, their environments and equipment." For this week, we will have an Aircraft maintenance activity that will show us some of the human factors that the  maintenance sector may face. The aircraft maintenance are responsible of repairing, inspecting and servicing the plane for it to remain in an airworthiness condition. Their job can get very hectic and may involve very long hours. Their main responsibility is to make sure the crew and the passengers are safe.  Human factors directly cause or contribute to many aviation accidents and have been documented as a primary contributor to more than 70% o

THREATS IN AVIATION

TERRORIST BEHAVIOR CHECKLIST  As we all know, terrorist attack is one of the biggest threat aviation has faced for a long time. This week I will be talking about some Behaviors that our Transport Security Administration (TSA) consider suspicious. Some of the common signs are fidgeting, whistling, sweaty palms, arrogance, a cold penetrating stares and rigid posture. “The checklist is part of TSA’s controversial program to identify potential terrorist based on behaviors that it thinks indicate stress or deception-known as the Screening of Passengers by observation Techniques, or SPOT.”(Winter 2015) This program only hires special trained officers called Behavior Detection Officers. I don't know if I'm the only one who gets very nervous at the airport if I see the officers, knowing very well I'm clean. What are some of the other criteria you may ask? Well the document that lists all the criteria is known as the Special Referral Report. The document is not classified but the TS
