ETHICS IN THE AVIATION PROFESSION.

What does Ethics in Aviation Profession mean to you?

What is Ethics? One may ask. Well I recently came across a very interesting article that pretty much explains the meaning perfectly and it said, "Ethics means making better choices by considering the rights and well being of others that may be affected by our decision."(Zuehlke 2005) Ethic is not something that we think about everyday but is something that definitely affects us on our everyday life, especially in the workplace. For example, you are a supervisor, meaning you have people who are under you which means it is your priority to make the right decision that will benefit your people and keep the work environment safe and fair.

Aviation itself is a very dangerous career field to be in, especially if you are a pilot. With that being said, we all hold pilots to very high standards and expect them to be as sharp and keen as possible since they have the lives of everyone in the plane in their hands. I expect them to have Ethical behavior, meaning; Avoidance of harm, this means that they should follow the rules that are set aside like going through the checklist thoroughly before take off and after landing. Other than that, Nonmaleficence this, simple is an ethical principle that prohibits intentional harming or doing anything that could cause avoidable harm to the passengers. Like drinking before a shift is a NO! Besides that, the. FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) has set aside  very strict guidelines that every pilot must achieve before being trusted to control a plane.

Ethics is one of the most important thing in the aviation career field, especially since you need to know how to handle yourself and your customers in any bad weather condition.

We should be accountable of each other to make sure smooth running at our workplace with no Mishaps!
