AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS AND FLIGHTS

HEATING SYSTEMS On this week’s blog I will be talking to you about Aircraft systems, and to be more specific the Environmental system. This to me has to be one of the most important system in the aircraft. No one wants to be in an extremely cold aircraft with no heat or vice versa. There are mainly two mainly two controls; Heat control and cabin air control. Let’s talk more about the heat control system. Different aircrafts have different types of heating systems. When this systems fail they have a lot of impact to not only the aircraft but the people inside. The most common failure is a leak in the muffler. Al mufflers eventually suffer from internal corrosion and heat distortion simply due to the extreme temps and corrosive element in the exhaust.   In addition, some muffler systems include studs to increase the surface area available to the passing air and, therefore, increase the efficiency of the heat exchange process. These studs are another area of concern for potential leakage.

LOW VISIBILITY

The Operating Environment and Aircraft Performance Aircraft performance can be affected by a lot of things. One of the major Environmental factor is Weather and to be more specific Low visibility. Weather is a very vital factor in aviation. Poor visibility may increase the possibility of pilot errors and collision with terrain or with other aircrafts. Fog and mist are one of the main factors that affects the visibility. Fog and mist are just very low clouds that sit on the ground. Fog is defined when the visibility is lower than 5/6SM while mist is above 5/6SM. In this conditions pilots have a really hard time taking off and landing the plane, jet or helicopters. Visibility doesn’t only get lowered by the fog but also sand. This is especially very common in the Middle Eastern countries where they have a lot of Sand storms. There are, however, ways of to proceed when you have low visibility. Different bases have their own criteria which they follow. For example in a base where I was sta

ETHICS IN THE AVIATION PROFESSION.

What does Ethics in Aviation Profession mean to you? What is Ethics? One may ask. Well I recently came across a very interesting article that pretty much explains the meaning perfectly and it said, "Ethics means making better choices by considering the rights and well being of others that may be affected by our decision."(Zuehlke 2005) Ethic is not something that we think about everyday but is something that definitely affects us on our everyday life, especially in the workplace. For example, you are a supervisor, meaning you have people who are under you which means it is your priority to make the right decision that will benefit your people and keep the work environment safe and fair.  Aviation itself is a very dangerous career field to be in, especially if you are a pilot. With that being said, we all hold pilots to very high standards and expect them to be as sharp and keen as possible since they have the lives of everyone in the plane in their hands. I expect them to hav
